Megan O'Rourke
Confronted by her mother's illness and death, poet and journalist Meghan O'Rourke in her memoir, The Long Goodbye (Riverhead, $25.95), ponders the eternal human question: how do we live with the knowledge that we will one day die? A former editor at The New Yorker, O'Rourke has served as culture editor and literary critic for Slate as well as poetry editor and advisory editor for The Paris Review. She is the author of the poetry collections Halflife and Once.
