Christina Gonzalez's debut novel for teens, The Red Umbrella (Knopf, $16.99), is set in Cuba at the time of the Revolution.  Teenage Lucía wants nothing to do with politics; she is more worried about what to wear to the school dance. Then she witnesses the public hanging of her father’s boss, and her parents send her and her little brother to safety in the U.S., to live in a foster home in Nebraska. Lucia must learn to fit in to this strange, new world.
